Fall

So, lots of things happened this fall. I'm just going to lump it into one post . Here goes-
September- Well started celebrating Alisons birthday and we celebrated by going to Time Out for Women I love going there.. It definitely was time to get my lamp refilled! The next weekend was the annual Mid Single Adult Conference. It took place at Lake Mead and in Boulder City at a sweet mansion that sat on the cliffs overlooking Lake Mead, it's called Pirates Cove. And it is awesome ! We were so exhausted but we had a great time and met new people.

In October, my friend Michelle came to visit from Maryland. So fun to catch up with her!


Then was the most anticipated, event... WICKED!!!! It was everything everyone said it would be. It was a great show! If you have a chance to see it, do it! I just love the Smith Center period!

My cousin Taylor came down to visit in November or October. Well to see her family that stayed in a time share , me was a bonus. ; )
So that's it in a nutshell. This blogpost comes from my phone. If the pics are jumbled, sorry. Its what it is. But how cool that I can blog from my phone?! I'm awaiting the new baby of 2013! And... I've got one whole patient . So I thought i'd give this a whirl.






Also, in October we went to the Mid Singles Adult Conference started on a dinner cruise boat- except there was no dinner or no cruise! But we had fun anyway...

Past, Present, Future.

As the year is winding down,i'm taking a trip down memory lane. This is one of those posts that your supposed to tag people so they can do  this too. I'm not in the mood..but , if you want to do it then please do!

20 years ago - 1992. WOW. Lets see...I was 14. I was in eighth grade at Walter Johnson Junior High.  I loved being in orchestra class...with our eccentric orchestra teacher, Carol Jackson.  Some highlights were the trip to California. We got to go to play on the UCLA Campus. I really honestly loved being on that campus..I remember we got to play some really cool background music, like if we were playing music along with the actual Disney movies. It was pretty cool! We also went to Universal Studios and maybe Knots Berry Farm? I have vague memories. It was in English class that I got to know one of my longtime friends for the first time, Theresa. If I only had taken pictures of us back then. I loved going to mutual, Girls Camp, Youth Dances..and 90210. :) If I remember, I think my family took a trip for the second time to Denver where I got to hang with my Uncle Joe and Aunt Cordie. I loved Denver and I still do. I also remember the time of the Rodney King riots and how there  were people who walked out in protest, LOL. I mean really. Can't we all just get along? :) I remember my Dad already planning for my college career..and me crying about it. I didn't wanna go to college. I mean I was 14? Ha Ha. Thanks Dad. :)

10 years ago- 2002.  I was 24.  I had been a CNA for about two years. I worked in postpartum. Love working with the babies. In between working full time, I went to school at UNLV. Only two classes is what I could afford. Still trying to go through nursing school. And I was attending the UNLV Institute. Loved going there. Some highlights were my mom and I went to St. George on a cold friday night to see the Olympic Torch travel down St. George Boulevard. It was so fun to see. And, I saw my friend Brooke who had just given birth to her son Austin.  My mom and I went through the temple for the first time and it was such a special experience. I felt so amazing, and so glad to have gone through with my mom. We had alot of friends there that day..and I felt my Dad there. And we were closer to being an eternal family. In May Grandma, Mom and me headed to Salt Lake City. We had a great time. I had rented a car..and scratched it going through a parking garage. But I covered it up quite nicely with touch up paint. Whew! It was just so fun to go..we walked around temple square, we got lost in a cemetary. I was looking for the cemetary that had the prophets in it and anyway wound up in a Catholic Cemetary. Totally true. So funny, you had to be there I guess. We watched the finale of American Idol..we rooted for Clay, but liked Ruben as well. Some things don't change, LOL.
2002 I think I was also a bridesmaid for my friend Beth's wedding. Her theme song?

5 years ago-2007. I was 29 . I had been working as an LPN for a little over six months in postpartum. I was taking care of my mother at the same time.  It was hard and overwhelming at times. But I needed to shove aside the pride and accept help. Because sometimes you can't do it all. I was more than happy to take care of my mom though. She had passed away that November, the week before Thanksgiving. I was devastated but I learned things along the way. And I still do.

This Year 2012-it has been some year for sure. Some sadness...my grandma needed to move in with her son in Texas. I had to say goodbye for now in May. Then, my friend Jessica was dying. She passed away while I was on my trip of a lifetime. I went to Europe!! Madrid, Paris, London, Berlin and Rome. It was truly an amazing experience for sure. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to go. I'm still working in postpartum and enjoying the journey.


 
 
 
Yesterday-  I worked last night. It was a nice night with only ten patients. Its all I can say. Work is good.
 
Tomorrow- Which is in two hours..I may be working, sigh. I was just asked to be put on call. I kinda don't want to go..but I need to help, and hey I need the money. Hi Ho, Hi Ho..its off to work i GO. I plan to go visit Patty's family tomorrow. Hope I get to see them. Maybe finish mailing my Christmas cards? I'm late. Its the thought that counts right?
 
This Year..or Should I say in 2013 I will... Increase scripture study..Meet new people. Not to be afraid to try something new. Maybe attend Women's Conference? And keep being my amazing self.

My Year in Status.

So...I like to use Facebook. Sometimes I put silly stuff up. Some profound stuff. Its just stuff. But I wanted a record of what some of the most popular things were. Here goes.

I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life. I...'ve learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a "life." I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back. I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn. Just went through my first DUI checkpoint. Happy to report I passed ;) ~On that note, 29 people liked that. Thanks for checking in on me...and my sobriety, LOL.
 
Working this Christmas Eve. But I couldn't be at a better place. Welcoming new life to the world. May your Christmas be Merry and Bright ♥ ~ 30 People!!

The Nutcracker....And some side splitting funny stuff.

The Nutcracker. It was a place I was never invited to...nor could my parents afford to take me to.  I put it in the back of my mind as I began to appreciate the fine arts, thanks to my involvement in orchestra. I played the violin. I was exposed to classical music, and I did enjoy it! But I sidetracked my desire to go to the ballet. Until now. For the last five years, me and Grandma would always go do something fun around Christmas Eve time. Well this year, grandma is in Texas..and I couldn't go visit. And I'm working Christmas Eve. However, im off on Christmas. So I had nothing planned at all. I thought to myself..why not go?! I wanted to go..so might as well take myself! I did bring my friend Joeleene along. I truly didn't want to go by myself. That would have been sad. But it was a surprise for her...she had helped me with so many things. And I know she was thinking of her mom  during this time. I wanted us to have a reason to go do something fun and forget worries for awhile. I was so happy..I only bought these economy ballet tickets last week! Truly spur of the moment. I was anxious, they were nosebleed  one  row down from the rafters. Really.  Boy oh boy. :)

We started our day going to lunch..where the waiter paid special attention to show us the ridiculously enormous chocolate cake.





We then went to kill some time. First time to discover some new stores..I loved these places! The Container Store and Charming Charlie at town square. Kinda funny though since I'm disorganized and don't wear jewlery alot... But I loved them. And I especially loved the mason jar section at the container store..and well at Charming Charlies I loved just about everything! Especially the prices..i'm in trouble. But not yet..since I refused to buy anything..yet. I'm making a  beeline day after Christmas. Charlie is Charming. Then we walked around...made our way down to the Apple store and played a little bit with ipads. Next up is Bellagio..we walked around the Christmas Conservatory and ooohed and awwed. We filmed some video for Lilly. Its so funny. My favorite line? I got the gingerbread. ;)
 


 
 

Then, after that....it was closer time to start driving towards the Smith Center for the Nutcracker. I wish I could record us all night...it was so dang funny. Do you ever just get punchy? Laughing at everything..ahem, my video above. We sat in the car and watched videos I shot on my iphone and laughed so hard we were crying. Then Joeleene pulls out a handkerchief to which I reply " They still make those?"

Hey Now.

Its 6am on a Saturday morning. As I am watching the sun rise, I am watching Glee sing a favorite 80's song...Hey Now :)  I have been on a rollercoaster of pain and nausea from a tooth pull and Lortab. Trust me, not fun. I've been up since four since I've been sleeping off and on. And its December 8th, I haven't bought one present yet. And its ok. I am decorated though..and thats enough for me. On happier news my Grandma did finally call me today. After I had 3 hours of sleep. I have been through some pain dealing with her. But I think I can say now that I have let it go as best I can. It was good to hear from her. I'm mourning rice right now...and my music from this blog? Sad.

I was told by a friend today that I am a  "Go To" girl. Meaning, I try to tackle my problems right here right now. I need to take things a little more slowly. To know that its ok if I don't finish things right here, right now. But being a go to girl that I am, I resolve not to waste my day today. I will do some house things..maybe a grocery shop. Maybe a dreaded trip to my gym? The possibilities are endless.

Christmas Carols


My friend Christene at Everything She Writes shared her Michael Buble version of this song. Which is fantastic. But for me..I have to share this one with Mariah Carey and Jimmy Fallon and the roots..and the cutest kiddos that are the background singers. Memories come to mind of driving to seminary junior year...having my very first car. Feeling so christmasy rocking out to Mariah Carey on my CD walkman that was hooked to a tape that played in my car. Instant CD player. That was my itunes. Great memories with Ember, Kjerstina..and whoever else chose to ride with me to school at seminary. Gotta admit 6 am seminary was tough, but great memories were had. Have to admit to afternoon seminary by senior year. But hey, I graduated from Seminary!  :) Rock on!

St George trip- Dickens Festival

The friday after Thanksgiving Joelenne and I went up to St George to attend the Dickens Festival on Saturday. It was really fun. The festival is like a big craft fair except you feel like you have stepped in a Charles Dickens novel. Here's some pics I got...along with a little movie.  ;)

 
 

 
 
 
We got into town in time to do an evening temple session. Then we walked around the temple grounds which were covered in lights. It was so pretty!

We then went to Washington to Texas Roadhouse. I have heard about this place from Pinterest. I had real Roadhouse rolls.
Umm.. Mine didn't look like that.

We then went to our room to sleep. I should have been super tired. But, we fell asleep with the tv on and some horror movie with a lion showed before my eyes. At only 330 in the morning. I couldn't go back to sleep. Ugh! So what to do. what to do?

 
So...we went to Wal Mart. I know, crazy I know. But neither one of us could sleep so why not?

I  wish that I got a picture with my friend Barbara! We had so much fun shopping and browsing all day. But , boy was I pooped. Back to home. The last pic summs it up for me.
Living Life- Life is not a race- but indeed a journey. Be honest. Work Hard. Be Choosy. Say "thank you"; " I love you" and  "great job" to someone each day. Go to church, take time for praer. The Lord giveth and the Lord takth. Let your handshake mean more the pen and paper. Love your life and what you've been given, it is not accidental- search for your purpose and do it as best you can. Dreaming does mater. It allows you to become that which you aspire to be....
 
We then had a post lunch at Cracker Barrel and headed home. I forgot to tell you that I headed the wrong direction listening to One Direction. Ha Ha.
